This paper provides references and plays a role in the development of ornamental bamboo landscape architecture. Based on the defects in design of ornamental bamboo, construction and in maintenance management of recent gardens, we have made a comprehensive investigation in cold resistance, landscape gardening technology, application of bamboo culture and landscape of bamboo.In order to select ornamental bamboos properly in garden designing, we have detected 53 ornamental bamboos in cold resistance by conductivity of bamboo and got the following result:ground-bamboo: Shibataea chinensis Nakai ≈ Shibataea kumasasa(Zoll. ex Steud.) The conclusions are followed by:(1) Ornamental bamboo could resistant short time at low temperatures in low degree of temperature stress. While it can adapt the low temperature at which would not nogenerate cold damage temperature.(2)In low stress temperature conditon of low temperature, its cold resistance could be is improved at lower dehydration and be decreased at on further moderate dehydration. However, dehydration, but it ishave notno impacted at on cold resistanceserious at extremely cold temperature dehydration.(3) The strength of two factors changehave discrepancy because of to different bamboo species.Plant specifications ought to be chosen according to the landscape requirement and realistic condition. According to the landscape requirement, germchit should have a proper density to construct a natural bamboo forest.Application of bamboo culture can enrich the connotation of landscape and achieve the highest level of aesthetic in garden.Bamboo landscape should be designed according to the bamboo characters, such as ecological cha racteristics of bamboo species, environmental space, landscape effects, bamboo cultural and so on.
