Biodiversity is the material basis for human existence and development, and it plays an irreplaceable role in the protection of water and soil, ecological balance and sustainable utilization of resource. The species conservation is an important component of biodiversity protection. Since the implementation of natural reserves policies, the great achievement has been reached. To the end of 2014, 2,729 nature reserves had been established in our country, which the total area was 1.47 million km2, occupying 14.9% of the total land area, more than the world average level(12%).The staff and researchers of nature reserves have done a lot of work about biodiversity conservation and research, and accumulated lots of data and information.However, with the increasing of protected areas in number and scale, the traditional management with paper reports cannot meet the present needs. Entering the 20 th century, with the rapid development of modern information technology, the database technology has been widely used in biodiversity information management. In particular, constructing the biodiversity information management system is one of the most common and efficient ways.In order to protect and rationally use biodiversity resource and fulfill the Convention on biodiversity, many governments and organizations have built a lot of biodiversity information systems(database) such as the Botanic Gardens Conservation International(BGCI), Global Biodiversity Information Facility(GBIF).The Chinese Biodiversity Information System(CBIS) also has been established according to domestic situation. After that, many regional biodiversity information systems have been established by local authorities, wildlife conservation society and nature reserves, such as the Shanghai biodiversity information management system,which have been providing strong supports for the conservation and management of biodiversity in our country.Taihangshan Macaque National Nature Reserve was permitted to be established in 1998, where the species resources are rich, including higher plants(1760 species contain 3 species of national second-class protection plants and 10 species of national three-level protection), beasts(34 species), birds(157 species), amphibians and reptiles(27 species), molluscs(30 species), insects(279 species) and so on. Since nature reserve was built, the staff and researchers of nature reserves have conducted many works, and accumulated lots of basic information and data. But, the traditional management way is less efficient and high cost, which has failed to meet the need of rapid development of related work. So an efficient and convenient way is imperative.Since the concept of digital earth was proposed, digital herbarium and museum have been founded successively, but it has not been reported in Henan province up to now.So, aiming to facilitate the species management and biodiversity conservation in this area and provide reference and samples for digital construction in Henan province and other area, this study takes Taihangshan Macaque National Nature Reserve as an example to establish biodiversity information system.Based on searching relevant literatures and collecting basic data information about nature reserve, considering the system development process and principles, we established goals and principles of design. Four working formulations were included as general structure design, functional design, database design and interface design.General structure design is a B/S format structure of three-tier distribution: the datatier, middle-tier and application tier. Functional design includes 5 parts: database management, information search, forum management, system maintenance and feature management. Database design includes three parts: conceptual design, logical design and physical design. Interface design must be user-centered, and featured high interface consistency, good interface navigation and quick interface feedback.According to above-mentioned analysis and design principles, we built the system development platform with XAMPP integration software package, and cataloged biological resources data with Access database software, and then built property database to. Based on B/S, with PHP, My SQL and Photoshop, we developed the biodiversity information management system for Taihangshan Macaque National Nature Reserve. This system realized the functions including updating reserve message online, key species display, academic exchange, species search, and so on.Based on B/S, the nature reverse information management system was established, which realized the digital management about the nature reverse. The administrative staffs can know the species resources quickly and accurately, which provides practical basis for the rule-making and implementing in species conservation,and will be valuable to promote the development of biodiversity protection.
