The Southern tobacco planting area is increasing year by year, the rest of the tobacco stem after tobacco harvest requires a lot of processing. The traditional manual harvest, not only the labor intensity is big,the cutting efficiency is low, can not meet the Southern tobacco planting area increasing situation, so in order to reduce the labor intensity of farmers and achieve full mechanization of tobacco production in southern China. In this paper, design a tobacco stalk and stalk pulling machine supporting the use of dual vertical tobacco stalk cutting mechanism and the cutting mechanism, the processing and the field experiments, conclusions are drawn as follows:(1) The tobacco stem height and diameter were measured. The height of the measurement results of tobacco stems, tobacco stem height, the average value of 1269mm. The diameter of the obtained measurement results of tobacco stems, tobacco stem base diameter and the average value is 29.84mm, the diameter of the middle part of the tobacco stalk of the average value of 23.58mm, the average value of the upper part of the tobacco stalk 17.98mm.(2) The tobacco stem compression tests are performed. Experimental results show that the maximum compressive test of tobacco stem was 1046.73N, the minimum pressure value 308.6N, the average crushing force is 1976.816N, the mean crushing value is 651.57N. In the tobacco stalk conveying in the process of clamping pressure is less than the tobacco stalk crushing force, in order to ensure the tobacco stalk holding and conveying process will not be crushed in the clip, to achieve the normal tobacco stalk clamping conveying.(3) The tobacco stem was cut test. The results of single factor experiment showed that, cutting mode, cutting blade type, cutting speed, tobacco stem diameter have influence on the cutting force. The results of orthogonal test showed that, the tobacco stem diameter is 16.5mm, the cutting blade of the saw tooth type, cutting way for sliding cutting, cutting speed is 300mm/s, the minimum cutting force.(4) According to the physical characteristics of tobacco stem and the need to meet the operation effect, the structure of tobacco stem cutting mechanism is analyzed and the design theory and simulation. Mechanism design including the tobacco stalk clamping conveying mechanism, return mechanism, cutter, cutter shaft and a driving mechanism, the analysis and simulation show that the cutting mechanism for cutting mechanism designed can meet the requirements of actual cutting.(5) In the tobacco stalk cutting and cutting power consumption rate as the index for evaluating the performance of the cutting mechanism, the field experiment was conducted in. The results of orthogonal test showed that when the cutting speed is 300 r/min, the amount of overlap between the radial cutting blade is 15 mm, the device speed is 0.6 m/s, can achieve the minimum cutting power consumption, the highest cutting the rate test results.(6) Through the comparison of the single factor test and orthogonal test, regression and optimization results, the theoretical analysis and experimental results coincide, shows that the test has good reliability.
