| China is a big agricultural country in the world, agriculture is a pillar industry of the country. Crop science is the core subject in the agricultural science system. The development of crop science is directly related to the development of agricultural science and technology. The main task of crop science is the study on plant genetic rules and plant breeding technology, so that can help to breed excellent varieties; what’s more, it also needs to analysis the impact of external factors on crop growth development, crop yield, crop quality and reveal the inherent rules to achieve the goal of safe, high yield and good quality, so as to ensure the supply of agricultural products, food security and agricultural sustainable development.Agricultural research institution is the main part of the agricultural science and technology innovation, its development relates to national competitive advantage in agricultural science and technology and the ability of independent innovation, especially some of the major agricultural research institutions are playing the leading role, so that by tracking the research of these major institutions, we can not only predict the trend of the development of agricultural science and technology, promote learning and communication between different institutions to achieve complementary advantages, but also useful to assist in establishing the development strategy of agricultural science and technology, enhance the level of development of agricultural science and technology, ensure the security and stability of social and promote economic development.This study uses the crop science as an example, based on previous study, selected Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS), China Agricultural University(CAU), Agricultural scientific research institutions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), USDA-Agricultural Research Service(ARS), Institut Natsonal de la Recherehe Agronomique(INRA) and National Agriculture and Food Research Organization(NARO), these six domestic and foreign well-known agricultural research institutions as the research target institutions, do a contrast analysis research on these six institutions. Considering it is difficult to define the range of the data set of crop science, in this paper, used the web of science SCI citation database and CABI Abstract database as the major data source, according to their characteristics, used the big data technology, merge the data of two databases, finally determine the scope of the research data. with the method of bibliometric Analysis, such as the citation analysis, content analysis and so on, using bibexcel and CiteSpace software,scientifically and objectively contrast the paper’s produce and influence, interdisciplinary and distribution, and the main research field of crop science, emphatically analyzes the paper’s produce and influence, interdisciplinary and distribution, international co-operation and research topics of these six institutions in the field of plant breeding and genetics. Results show that the strength of the basic research of Chinese academy of agricultural sciences is Continuing rapid growth, but compared with the agricultural research institutions of developed countries, there is still a large gap, need to innovate continuously, and improve quality and international influence;6 target institutions in the field of crop science presented similar distribution, while Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences research in the field of crop science continuously deepen and expand, and gradually move closer to the foreign well-known institutions; foreign institutions have an obvious advantage on the international cooperation, domestic institutions should be improved; research topics of 6 target institutions there are both common and different focus, each has his all characteristics, all in all,it is worth learning and making a reference from each other. |
