In this paper, according to actual problems of drought and poor rain, gravel-mulched field aging, yield and quality of Gravel-mulched Field Land watermelon decline in Tazhaike village, Xingren town of Zhongwei in Ningxia, using the method of the comparative test and Introducing dought-resistant economic crops Cerasus humilis to do experimental research in the field. By studying the suitable conditions and irrigation quota of Cerasus humilis in the gravel-mulched field, the test results preliminary selected suitable planting varieties and better irrigation quota of Cerasus humilis in Gravel-mulched Field Land, and it could provide theoretical support and technical basis for the local water resources efficient utilization.1. By using plot comparison experiment method, planting ten varieties Cerasus humilis of Nongda 5, Nongda 6, Nongda 7, Nongda 07-14, Nongda 9, Nongda S-D, Nongda 4,Nongda 03-25, Nongda 03-35 and Nongda 23-04, and comparatively analyzing survival rate, plant height, stem diameter, photosynthesis, soil moisture and actual needs water several aspects of the ten varieties of Cerasus humilis. The results show that:Nongda S-D each physiological index and photosynthetic characteristics is the best during the growth process, the second is Nongda 4. Therefore, under the same irrigation and fertilization condition, initially identify Nongda S-D and Nongda 4 as the suitable varieties of Cerasus humilis in Gravel-mulched Field Land.2. By using plot comparison experiment method, selecting the third year Cerasus humilis Nongda 4 and Nongda 5 as test materials, respectively setting up two irrigation treatments of high water (irrigation quota 30m3/667m2)and low water (irrigation quota 15m3/667m2), and taking the local irrigation of Cerasus humilis as the control group. The results show that:the plant height, stem diameter and crown circumference of Cerasus humilis are higher than other treatments using high water irrigation; photosynthesis is higher than other treatments and the yield is optimal among all treatments. Based on multiple comparisons, the three characteristics are all significant different between the yield of high water treatment and control. Comprehensive analysis shows that:the yield is 623kg/667m2 and 689kg/667m2 with an increasing yield of 16.38% and 19.92%; water production efficiency (WUE) of Nongda 4 and Nongda 5 are 21.07kg/m3 and 22.97kg/m3 respectively. Therefore, under the existing rainfall (166.2mm) and irrigation conditions, high water treatment (irrigation quota 30m3/667m2) is better and is the suitable irrigation quota that can be used in Tazhaike village, Xingren town of Zhongwei in Ningxia.
