China is a country which is serious lack of water resources. Agriculture irrigation takes a high proportion among water resources. But water utilization ratio of agricultural irrigation is low. So the development of agricultural water-saving irrigation makes a real difference in tne development of agriculture and construction of national economy. Underground pipeline irrigation system under the ground is a kind of water-saving irrigation measures, which is effective to avoid seeping water and evaporation loss. Two most important projects of Low pressure pipeline irrigation system are piping project and water-distribution installation. Irrigation valve of low pressure pipeline is one kind of the water-distribution installations. Therefore, the research of irrigation valve has good practical applications.In this article, we have done physical experiment for two different structure types of irrigation valves. And then, we compare the performance of the two kinds of valves through the analysis of the relation curve between pressure and flow in pipe and between pressure and head loss. We found that the irrigation valve whose control damper is located near the exit of the body can adjust the lift of valve plate better than tne irrigation valve whose control damper is located in the extra valve cage. What is more, the former’s resistance to flow is smaller than the later’s.The three-dimensional numerical simulations of Flow structure from horizontal pipe to the exit of water tank outside the valve body is simulated by means of Flunet software. We simulated flow structure by using RNG k -ε turbulence model and SIMPLE algorithm. Then we can get the nephogram of velocity and pressure, velocity vector and fluid streamlines by simulating flow structure in valve. According to the results of numerical simulation, we calculated head loss. In addition, we compared the head loss from numerical simulation with the head loss from physical experiment. Finally, we analyzed the main reasons of head loss and the effcet of box outside valve for stabilizing flow.The conclusion of this article can be used to analyze the flow in the valve body and flow resistance from Structure of the valve body, which can provide a reference to optimize valve body further for reducing the flow resistance.
