Gansu is one of the six major pastoral areas in China. The natural resources for the development of dairy industry is richly endowed. In recent years, with the country’s policy of western development in particular supportive policies of agriculture and animal husbandry in Gansu, Gansu dairy industry have been in a golden period. Lintao county of Dingxi city in Gansu province has advantages in location and resources for the development of dairy industry. However, due to the extensive management, the forage nutrition is not balanced the cost is high and the benefit is low. This study was carried out to find comprehensive technology to improve the level of dairy production in Lin Tao. The results are as follows:1. The effects of feeding management on milk yield and quality1) Greenhouse shed and semi open barns of dairy cattles breeding efficiency comparison experiments showed that in the cold winter and spring, the warm barn feeding cattles has significantly higher feed conversion and economic benefits with less investment.The warm bar is obviously superior to the open barn.2) The experiments on the effects of dairy health technology on the production performance of milking cows showed that daily bovine brushing, hot towel wipping breast before milking, hand massagging the breast and playing music could prompt milking.Health care technologis can help to improve the milk yield of dairy cow obviously. The lactating cows milk production was increased by 1.05-1.7 kg and the milk yield was increased by up to 10.5%.3) The effect of stage management on milk production performance of dairy cows in lactation period showed that the milk yield of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and the daily average milk yield of the experimental group was 29.17 kg, while that of the control group was 27.13 kg.4) Application of carrot in dairy cattle production showed that in the experimental group, the average milk yield increased by 8.4% every day. The effects of potato residue on dairy production experiment showed that feeding potato residue after fermentationto dairy cows can reduce the cost of feed, increase the milk yield by6% every day, and increase the benefits by 15%.5) Corn straw silage forage grass fedding cows experiement showed that corn straw silage has mellow taste and high nutritional value,feeding corn straw silage can significantly increase milk yield of dairy cowsand farmers’ income. Feeding silage corn straw can make full use of the resources of the study region, and change the traditional feeding mode of the dairy farmers.2. Techniques implication and its economic profitsThe dairy farming techniques were demonstrated among 32 households by raising a total of 420 cows in head. The milk yield increased from 3.8 to 4.67t/head/year with an increase of 870 kg. The demonstrated technology was drived to122 peasant households, milk yield increased from 3.5 to 4.4 t/head/year with an increase of 805 kg. Research(promote) the economic benefit of 4.23 million yuan, the annual test results of pure yield ratio is 6.81 yuan/RMB. Grass covers an area of 1.06 hectares, of which the compound interplanting 0.92 hectares, perennial grasses covers an area of 0.14 hectares. Build permanent silo, 256, 3930 t make silage. Application of corn silage strains 100 t, application cows with(mixed) feed 3000 t. Issued the silage technology operating rules more than 2800 copies.3. The consumption characteristics of diary products1) The category of dairy products. Unprocessed milk is mainly comsumed by people older than 55 years. Nutrition is the first standard that consumer considered and consumption habit ranks the second. 43% of the investigated families buy dairy products for their children, 13% of the investigated families buy dairy products for old people, and less than 3% of the investigated families buy dairy products for teenagers and adults.The dairy products are mainly ice cream, raw yogurt, flavored milk and sterilized milk.2) Dairy products consumption patterns. 97.9% of the investigated families think that the milk should be boiled before drinking because: 67% of them for good quality,20% of them for keep longer and 13% of them for good taste.3) Consumer spending on dairy products. Lintao County residents prefer local products, the purchase amount accounted for 83%, the purchase of other domestic products is relatively low, only 17%. Fresh milk is usually consumed daily and dairy products are usually bought 2-3 times per week.The study shows that Lintao should promote the dairy industry management and create a dairy farmers cooperation organization to protect the vital interests of dairy farmers and support leading enterprises, helping to create a "Lanzhou- Lintaodairy economic circle", to accelerate the implementation of "company + farmers" mode and to strengthen the milk base construction. The government’s support is essential for the development of Lintao county’s dairy industry. To vigorously develop the dairy market, the government and enterprises should take priority to control the quality of milk,improve the structure of dairy production.
