Wuwei City Green Space Strategies Investigation And Optimization

Urban greenbelt, called "the lungs of the city", was constructed by ground surface natural and artificial vegetation, which played a role in beautifying the the environment, reducing haze, purified air and so on. However, with the increasing demands of resident and industrial and agricultural land use, the status of greenbelt use pattern structure and layout tend to be unreasonable. This paper mainly collected and investigated the types, area, department, and management of greenbelt in Wuwei urban district of Gansu Province. This main results are as follows:1, There was total 459.88 ha greenbelt included 228.41ha park greenbelt,181.52 ha residents greenbelt,25.5 ha nursery garden greenbelt,24.45 ha green buffer in Wuwei urban district which represent typical afforestation of city near the edge of desert. The type plants of greenbelt were arbor including Sophora japonica, Fraxinus chinensis, Platycladus orientalis and 422 many old trees in Wuwei urban district; shrubs and flowers including Rosa davurica, Dendranthema morifolium and Forsythia suspensa; herbage including Trifolium repens and Poa annua.2, The mainly problems included:(1) The greenbelt use pattern structure and layout was unreasonable, which designed and constructed in large-scale parks, blocks, both sides of the street, and government department, and can not provide recreation spcaces for residents. (2) The number of green buffer bewteeen residential area and industrial area was not enough, and can not provide the protective effect. (3) When performing the greenbelt, only focus on city’s landscape effect, but ignore the ecological functions which lack the necessary channels leading to influence the animals’action. (4) The management of the greenbelt was simple lacking of effective maintenance equipment and information technology.3, The optimized strategies:(1) Greenbelt should be properly integrated into city planning accroding to the type and quantity, which aim to integrate the landscape and ecology. (2) The represent species of grasses and trees from the Hexi Corridor should be selected in the process of greenbelt constuction. (3) It is necessary that afforest all of bare ground of urban including residents area and both sides of the road, and increase the total urban green space.
