Corn harvesting device with disc-cutters roller is mainly consisted of ear snapping device, stalk chopping device and gearbox. It chops stalk into pieces, throwing pieces into farmland and snaps ear from stalk at a time. It makes corn harvesting process simplification, increases corn harvesting efficiency and enriches domestic corn harvesting mechanization technology system.First of all, experiments about corn bio-mechanical properties are proceeded. Some mechanical parameters including joint strength between ear and stalk, axial tensile strength, compression strength, elastic modulus and Poisson ratio of stalk are measured to support for design and simulation next. Secondly, corn harvesting device with disc-cutters roller is designed. The main design parameters are determined. Thirdly, modal analysis of disc-cutter and simulation of stalk chopping is realized based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA, the main factors about power consumption and optimum assembly are found. Finally, virtual prototype of gearbox is established by ADAMS, its transmission ratio, gears engaging forces and transmission efficiency are measured to build simulation platform for tests and improvements of corn harvesting device with disc-cutters roller in future.
