In recent years, with the rapid development of mechanized corn harvestingtechniques, the adaptability and reliability of harvester’s key components havebecome more and more important. It is of great significance to raise mechanizedtechnique standards in many aspects, such as innovating technique and theorylevel, improving key components’ efficiency and enhancing corn harvester’s workreliability. On account of the disadvantages that corn stalks had serious possibilities topinch off and lodge in the process of stalks’ clamping transportation when verticalroller cornhead worked, this paper researched and analyzed corn clampingdelivery device and proposed the three-contact-point floating clamp model. Basedon this theory, a snap unit body with a reliable, simple and reasonable structurehad been designed. In order to determine the parameters of the mechanism, anexperiment had been done to measure lamping forces by making use of corn stalksin different growth stages. The involved parameters included the form of clampingtransportation, stalk’s clamping position, grabbing power, clamping power, conveyor chain speed and harvester’s work speed. By changing parameter data, aseries of results were gained and these results can be regarded as a theoreticalbasis of three-contact-point floating clamp model. The research that combined theoretical analysis and experimental analysisinferred a suitable stalk clamping transportation form of compression bar andanalyzed the main factors which effected on the reliability of the stalk clampingtransportation. Finally, four factors which included the speed of clamping chain, clamping power, clamping chain’s angle and the number of clamped stalks wereselected into the optimal orthogonal experiment to reveal the effect of those fourfactors on the lodging index and broken-stalk rate. The results indicated that thebest combination were2.0m/s,50N,20°and less than2stalks, respectively. Thisconclusion can provide a reference when vertical roll-type harvester’s cornheadwas designed.
