Objective:To determine the expression of p53,MDM2, EGFR and eIF4E in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma and to investigate the correlativity of the genes, and to analyses the relation ship between every protein expression and clinic- pathological characters. Methods:The two-step method were performed in tissue specimens of 97 cases of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma,17 cases of normal normal nasomucosal mucosas and 18 cases of dysplastic nasomucosal mucosas with antibody of those proteins. Results:There is significance difference in the expression of p53, MDM2, eIF4E, EGFR in the nasopharyngeal carcinoma, dysplastic and normal nasomucosal mucosas (p<0.05). The expression of p53 and MDM2, EGFR, eIF4E did not correlated with age, sex and T stages in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (p>0.05). The expression of MDM2 correlated with lymph node metastasis (p<0.05). The expression of eIF4E had the remarkable difference in the degree of differentiation (p<0.05). The expression of P53 correlated with MDM2(p>0.05). It did not correlate with EGFR and eIF4E (p<0.05).Conclusions:1. The expression of p53, MDM2, eIF4E, EGFR were overexpressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The results showed that they played an important role in the occurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. 2. The expression of MDM2 correlated with lymph node metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.3. The expression of eIF4E correlated with the degree of differentiation.4. The expression of P53 correlated with MDM2. It did not correlate with EGFR and eIF4E.
