ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of qi-supplementing an activating-blood treatment combined with rehabilitation training on serum VEGF in patients convalescent from ischemic stroke, to observe the relationship between VEGF and recovering of neurological function.MethodsAll sixty patients met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to treatment group and control group, each group of30cases. The treatment group received Buyang Huanwu decoction and rehabilitation training; the control group only received rehabilitation treatment. Before treatment and after two weeks, neurological function (National Institute of Health stroke scale, NIHSS) and simplified Fugl-Meyer motor function score (FMA) were evaluated, serum VEGF was tested. All data was inputted and analyzed through SPSS19.0software.Results1. After treatment, NIHSS and FMA were improved in two groups. Compared with the control group, there was significant difference in the treatment group (P<0.05).2. Serum VEGF level were increased in the treatment group after two weeks’ treatment, but there was no significant difference compared with the level before treatment (P>0.05). The level was significantly lower before treatment in control group (P<0.05).But there was significant difference between the treatment group and the control group after treatment.ConclusionBuyang Huanwu decoction can increase serum VEGF, and improve neurological function in patients convalescent from ischemic stroke...
