Under the influence of individual allergic constitution, environmentand polygenic inheritance, the incidence of allergic asthma is increasinggradually. Specific immunotherapy (SIT) is a new treatment except foravoiding exposure to allergens and pharmacotherapy; it is the onlyetiologic treatment for allergic diseases and has the capacity of changingthe natural course of allergic disease by immune regulation mechanism toprevent the disease to get worse. In clinical trails, we found that SIT notonly relieves asthma symptoms, reduces medication consumption, but alsoreduces asthma risk in patients desensitized for allergic rhinitis. Besides,The effect on asthma prevention and control is still persistent after SITdiscontinuation. Subcutaneous injection and sublingual administering ortitration are the main ways of research and application of allergic asthma. In order to improve its efficiency and safety, shorten the period oftreatment,we are looking for some new solutions (such as: another routes ofSIT, new allergens products).Since its description by Noon in1911,SIT hasbeen proved its advantage on respiratory allergic diseases, but there are stillsome problems existed. To further understand SIT, promote its clinical trails and widely used in the future, this article makes a simple review onthe specific immunotherapy of allergic asthma.
