Objective: The reliability degree of TG/HDL-C as insulin resistanceindex in the evaluation of insulin resistance in patients with polycysticovary syndrome (PCOS)。Methods:109women with PCOS and105age-matched controls wererecruited into this study. Height, weight, blood pressure, blood lipids, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG), fastinginsulin and sex hormone were measured. Body mass index (BMI),waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), Homeostatic model assessment for insulinresistance(HOMA-IR) were calculated. They were also underwenteuglycaemic-hyperinsulinaemic clamp. Insulin sensitivity was expressed byM value obtained from euglycaemic-hyperinsulinaemic clamp andHOMA-IR, respectively the two indicators to determine the value of ROCcurve.Result: PCOS patients had higher BMI, WHC, HOMR-IR, TG/HDL,M value, sex hormone index than controls (P<0.05); Insulin resistanceindex (HOMR-IR, TG/HDL, M) there is a correlation between each other (P<0.05); for to determine the value of ROC curve in HOMR-IR, RUCwas0.737(95%confidence interval=0.673-0.795), the optimal cut-offvalue is1.122, the corresponding sensitivity(58.82) and specificity(78.77).With the M value of ROC curve, as the decision value results show, RUCwas0.739(95%confidence interval=0.675-0.797), the optimal cut-offvalue of0.909,which corresponds to the highest sensitivity in the ROCcurve (74.64) and specificity (72.37).Conclusion: TG/HDL-C was used to evaluate the insulin resistanceindex in patients with PCOS, the sensitivity and accuracy is higher, can beused as a screening index of insulin resistance among patients with PCOS,simple and easy.
