Objective: To analysis the changes of visfatin and the improvement ofinsulin resistance after treatment of traditional Chinese medicine andwestern medicine in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), to explore thesignificance of visfatin in the treatment of PCOS with insulin resistance. Methods: Analysis the treatment situation of124cases PCOS patientswith insulin resistance and Deficiency of kidney-yang group(K-yangD),51cases were treated with metformin (western medicine group),73caseswere treated with tonifying kidney Yang(traditional Chinese medicinegroup), treatment for6months, the level of visfatin, body massindex(BMI),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting insulin(FINS),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR), ovulationrecovery rate and clinical efficacy were observed. Results: visfatin(26.55ng/mL VS.11.43ug/L), BMI,FINS, HOMA-IRwere reduced in western medicine group after therapy(P<0.01);visfatin(23.72ng/mL VS.12.53ug/L), BMI, FINS, HOMA-IR were lowerthan before therapy in traditional Chinese medicine group(P<0.01); No significant differences in ovulation recovery rate and clinical efficacy werefound between traditional Chinese medicine group and western medicinegroup(P>0.05).Conclusion: Visfatin better reflect the improvement of insulin resistant,it can be used as an treatment and observation index to reflect insulinresistance in clinical diagnosis and treatment of PCOS; both traditionalChinese medicine and Western medicine treatment can effectively reduceinsulin resistance in PCOS patients with kidney yang deficiency, improveovulation situation, the therapeutic effect were better.
