Objective:The purpose of the study is to examine the expression of ADAM12and NDRG1in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, and to evaluate their association with clinical outcome. Methods: Immunochemistry was used to examine the expression of ADAM12and NDRG1in paraffin-embedded samples of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma with complete clinical data. Then the expression of ADAM12and NDRG1were analysed to determine their association with clinical outcome. Hep-2cell line was cultured and the expression of ADAM12and NDRG1were analysed by immunofluorescence.Results:Of67laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma samples,19(28.4%) were positive stained for ADAM12, and17(25.4%) were positively stained for NDRG1. The ADAM12protein expression was statistically different in primary tumor (T), clinical stage and cervical lymph node. But the ADAM12protein expression for cell differentiation had no statistically difference. The positive rate of NDRG1protein in high degree of cell differentiation was higher than moderate/poor cell differentiation, but there was no statistically difference. Positive staining of ADAM12and NDRG1protein were found in Hep-2cell line. Conclusions:The ADAM12expression may be associated with the occurrence and development of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
