Objective:Both basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and CC chemokine ligand18(CCL18)are important extracellular molecules in tumor microenvironment, which play important roles inthe development of tumors. To detect the expression of bFGF and CCL18in non-small cell lungcancer(NSCLC)and explore the relations between the expression and clinical pathologicalparameters, and elucidate the roles of bFGF and CCL18in tumor occurrence, invasion andmetastasis of NSCLC.Methods: Collected80samples of NSCLC paraffin-embedded organization blocks fromDecember2008to March2013in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, and Theexpression of bFGF and CCL18was detected immunochemically by EnVision method in thosecases.Result:1.The positive rate of bFGF in NSCLC group was73.75%,obviously higher than that ofcarcinoma adjacent tissues(15.00%), and the difference between two groups had statisticalsignificance (x2=23.44,P=0.000);In NSCLC, the expression of bFGF were correlatedobviously with differentiation (x2=8.476,P=0.004), clinical staging (x2=7.180,P=0.007)and lymph node metastasis(x2=7.060,P=0.008),but no obvious associations werefound between bFGF expression and patient’s gender, age, smoking index, size of tumor andhistological subtype.2.The positive rate of CCL18in NSCLC group was66.25%,obviously higher than that inthe carcinoma adjacent tissues(10.00%), and the difference between two groups had statisticalsignificance (x2=20.46,P=0.000);In NSCLC, the expression of CCL18were correlatedobviously with clinical staging (x2=7.028,P=0.008)and lymph node metastasis(x2=7.675,P=0.006),but no obvious associations were found between CCL18expression and patient’sgender, age, smoking index, size of tumor, histological subtype and differentiation.3.The expression of bFGF was positively associated CCL18in non-small cell lungcancer (r=0.364,P=0.001).Conclusion:bFGF and CCL18in NSCLC were over expressed and correlated with clinical staging and lymph node metastasis, and the expression of bFGF was positively associatedCCL18, which peompt that bFGF and CCL18may interact together to promote infiltration, invasion and metastasis in NSCLC,and may play important roles in the process of occurrenceand development in NSCLC. Combined detection of bFGF and CCL18may provide a newexperimental basis for the diagnosis and prognosis of NSCLC. bFGF and CCL18may becomenew targets for anti-cancer molecular targeted therapy, which may provide a new idea andmethod for non-small cell lung cancer patients.
