Objective To detect the expression of COX-2 and Bfgf in the tissue of non small cell lung cance(NSCLC); to discuss the relationship of both of them and Angiogenesis of the tumor and clinical significance. Methods There are 76 cases of the patients with lung cancer, including 31 cases of squamous cancer(SC) and 45 cases of glandular cancer. the expression of COX-2, Bfgf and CD34 were measured by using immunohistochemical methods. Results Cox-2 was expressed in 51.3% of 76 cases; bFGF was expressed in 53.9% of 76 cases. Cox-2 was expressed in 29% of 31 cases with SC; bFGF was expressed in 61.3% of 31 cases with SC. Cox-2 was expressed in 66.7% of 45 cases with glandular cancer; bFGF was expressed in 48.9% of 45 cases with glandular cancer. Difference of the expressions of COX-2 were significant in lung SC, adenocarcinoma of lung and TNM staging. There are relationships between the expression of bFGF, the TNM staging of lung cancer and metastasis of lung cancer, but there is no difference significantly in lung SC and adenocarcinoma of lung. The relationship is significant in the expression of COX-2 and bFGF. The expressing of COX-2 and Bfgf is correlated to the count of MVD positively. There are correlations between MVD, TNM staging and metastasis of lymph node. There is no correlation between the expressing of COX-2 and bFGF and sex, age and differentiation of tumor. Conclusion COX-2 and Bfgf play an important role in genesis and development of NSCLC, which is related to angiogenesis of tumor. There is correlation cignificantly the expression of COX-2 and bFGF of NSCLC, COX-2 may produce a effect by upregulating bFGF,which can promote angiogenesis of tumor. COX-2å’ŒbFGF is one of factors of dys-prognosis of NSCLC possibly,so the detectation of them can help us to predict metastasis, recurrence and prognosis of NSCLC.
