ObjectiveTo develop a standard measure for assessing the TCM symptom manifestations of LDH, understand the research progress of the current standardization of TCM symptom and discusses the application of scale in the field of TCM symptoms。MethodsCollect extenxively the literature that is about LDH which is descripiton with traditional chinese medicine, to summarize the TCM symptms and clinical manifestation of existing at present. In the guidance of TCM theory, according to the principle and method of scale design, carries on eight single TCM symptom manifestations:Qi, blood stasis, split into the wind, cold, wet, heat, yin deficiency, Yang deficiency. In combination with Literature and clinical experience to summarize the clinical manifestation of their own, so write the initial item pool。 Through focus group (consisting of 5 experts in our hospital for Department of orthopedics) discussion, to screen out the suitable entry and change the question form. A preliminary investigation was carried out in clinical with these queistions. Through the detailed interviews with patients, find problems in the process of understanding fill, revised entries, and to develop the questionnaire of LDH in TCM symptom manifestations, the questions’s form is the 5 stage, expressed as 1,2,3,4,5. Primary survey was hold in the paitents of LDH that in the area of Zhuhai, scoring for the questionnaire, combined with modern statistical methods:correlation coefficient method, the Chronbach’s coefficient method, discrete trends method observation of each item of statistical significance, and combining with the clinical significance of screening entry, to form a formal questionnaire。 Left the culminate version and carried out the evalration of a feasibility, reliability and validity。ResultsThe questionnaire consisted of 56 items was made under the summaries and discussiones, finally collected 300 valid questionnaire in the paitent with LDH, through statistical testing and 5 experts to discuss, eliminated 8 entries. Eventually scale is consisted of 47 items that includes eight sub scales, corresponding to 8 TCM symptom manifestations. The scale can be filled in time within 20 minutes, the acceptance rate and completion rate was more than 95%, so the scale has the good feasibility;reliability test suggest that the split half reliability was 0.8, the homogeneity reliability (the Chronbach’s coefficient method) are greater than 0.7, so the scale has very high credibility; by examining the construct validity of sub scale, application of principal component method to extract two common factors, whice one is contain qi, blood stasis, Yin deficiency and Yang deficiency, another one class contains wind, cold, wet, heat four syndromes, the results is basicly conform to the clinical types, but the specific conformance needs further inspection.ConclusionThis scale is only contain Interrogation content. the TCM Syndromes of patients with LDH were quantified evaluation in a certin dergee, to simplify and standardly the process of syndrome differentiation, but it can not be completely applied in clinic. The scale’s effectiveness is still need further research. The scale compilation is a complex and long process, the improvement is needed to be applicated in TCM syndrome. First, consistent understanding is still not formed in the field that symptom standardization and canonical;used statistical methods to screen entry is just an attempt, and yet did not find a really reliable statistical methods;finally, the reliable reference index has not be fond in the structure validity test, so the scale used in the TCM is still in the primary stage, the applicable value and effectiveness need to be further research.
