[Methods] 40 female kunming mice were randomly divided into four groups, each group of 10, two of them as a 10 days propranolol-fed gro-up and the control group, the other two groups as 90 days propranolol-fedgroup and the control group. All the mice were supported by normal feeding, the experimental groups were fed propranolol 5 mg/(kg, d); the control groups wrere fed saline 1 ml/d after 10 days,90 days;then all 10 mice of the experimental group and control group were put to death, taking the aorta of mice under a microscope. Then detected the express-ion of MMP - 9, VEGF, bFGF of the aorta by Real-time polymerase ch-ain reaction (PCR).[Results]:Before drug intervention, there are no statistically significant among t-he groups of mice on weight,10 days propranolol-fed group of MMP-9, VEGF, bFGF expression of 10 days propranolol-fed group was not reduc-ed (P>0.05).The expression of MMP-9,VEGF, bFGF of 90 days propranol-ol-fed group was decreased significantly (P<0.05).[Conclusion] propranolol can not reduce the expression of MMP-9, V EGF, bFGF of mice aorta in the short term, has no effects on the growt-h of normal aorta, propranolol can reduce the expression of MMP-9, VE-GF, bFGF of mice aorta in the long term, has effects on the growth of normal aorta.
