Objective:To investigate the current status of the glycemic control in the patients aged45or older in the communities of Beijing.Method:The people aged45years or older were enrolled in this present study fromthree communities, Gucheng, Jinding and Laoshan, of Beijing. Each participantreceived a questionnaire survey, physical examination, laboratory examination。Theglycemic control of the patient with type2diabetes, which is reported in thequestionnaire, was assessed according to the goal of HbA1c<7%advocated by theAmerican Diabetes Association(ADA) and the Chinese Diabetes Society. A logisticregression analysis was made to reveal the characteristics associated with patientsattaining HbA1c<7.0%.Result:Of the2523patients included in the survey, the average of the HbA1c is(7.4±1.78)%and patients with HbA1c<7%was45.7%.The oral antidiabetic drugs(OADS) monotherapy, insulin only, OAD+Insulin groups had mean glycosylatedhemoglobin (HbA1c) levels of(7.35+1.62)%,(7.90±2.19)%and(7.91±1.98)%,respectively, and among those three groups,47.2%,32.5%,26.4%of the patients metthe goal of HbA1c<7.0%. The mean HbA1c of the patients, treated with one OAD, twoOADS and more than three OADS, was (7.28±1.54)%,(7.51±1.86)%,(7.50±1.21)%, respectively, while the percentage of patients with HbA1c<7.0%was45.0%,39.6%,37.0%. As the development of the diabetes, the average of the HbA1camong patients with the duration of less than one year, one-five years,5-10years andmore than10years wa(s6.95±1.48)%,(7.11±1.62)%,(7.43±1.79)%,(7.84±1.94)%andthe number of patients with the achievement of HbA1c<7%was56.4%,55.5%,44.7%,32.8%. According to the result of the logistic regression analysis, mean HbA1cachievement of HbA1c<7.0%was related to the gender, BMI, WHR, SBP, Complications/comorbidities, duration of diabetes and the therapeuticregimen(OR=1.320,0.762,0.027,0.992,1.264,0.431,0.432,P<0.05).Conclusion:More than half of the patients aged45or older with T2DM do notmeet the target of glycemic control of HbA1c less than7.0%in the communities ofBeijing, which is down as the duration of diabetes...
