Objective:To observe the clinical effects between conventional acupuncture and combination treatment of cupping and conventional acupuncture in treating lumbar disc herniation patients. Methods:Using the method of random, control clinical study,62cases of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc patients were randomly divided into treatment group (treated by cupping and conventional acupuncture) and controlled group (treated by conventional acupuncture),31cases were in each group. Record the total curative effective rate, scores of Japanese Orthopedic Association low back score (JOA) and the short-form of McGill pain questionnaire (MPQ) during and at the end of the treatment.Results:1.Baseline data of the two groups before treatment shows no statistical difference: gender, age, course of disease, JO A scores, PRI-A,PRI-S,VAS and the total scores of McGill,(p>0.05),the two groups were comparable.2. Clinical effect comparison between the two groups after the treatment:the total curative effective rate of the treatment group after treatment was96.67%, and the controlled group was90.00%, the difference between the two groups shows statistic significanee(P<0.05).Difference of JO A scores after the second course shows no statistic significance(P>0.05),while after the fourth treatment, the different scores shows statistic significance(P<0.01).After the second course treatment, difference of the PRI-A and the PRI-S scores shows no statistical difference(P>0.05),the VAS and total scores of McGill shows statistic significance(P<0.01),and after the fourth treatment, difference of the PRI-S shows no statistical difference(P>0.05),the PRI-A, VAS and total scores of McGill shows statistic significance(P<0.05).3. The difference in each two groups before and after treatment:the scores of JOA and McGill shows statistic significance(P<0.01).Conclusion: 1. Both of the two methods are effective to treating prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.2. The treatment group shows better in reducing the pain intensity than the controlled group.
