Background and ObjectiveThe treatment of malignant obstructive jaundice patients remains controversial, lackof effective and objective methods to predict prognosis and evaluate complications.Recent years,Real-time Tissue Elastography quantitative diffusion analysis is used tomeasure Modulus of Elasticity(MOE) in liver. This study aims to correlate MOE in liverwith clinical data, treatment and complications of patients with malignant obstructivejaundice.Methods91cases of hospitalized patients with malignant obstructive jaundice were involvedin our retrospective study,include56cases under biliary drainage and61cases receiveingsurgery.Stepwise multiple linear regress model was established to correlate Quantitativediffusion analysis parameter(AREA%) with the general information and serous indicators. These patients were divided into two groups based on AREA%:(A) AREA%≤20;(B)AREA%>20.The average time of operation, bleeding volume and complicationswere compared between groups in patients underwent surgery. Complications andvariation trend of serous indicators were observed in both groups of patients under biliarydrainage treatment.ResultsBefore treatment, TB, DB and FIB showed up weak linear correlation with AREA%(R=0.353, p=0.017). The time of operation and bleeding volume show nosignificant.difference between groups A and B.Complications in A group weresignificantly more than the other in patients accepting biliary drainage, while notsignificantly different in patient receiving surgery. After drainage treatment,TB, DB, ALT,AST, GGT, AKP, LDH present overall downward trend.TB, DB were into decline afterthe rise in group A,day1after drainage, while ALT,AST increased in day7in groupB.Differences in both groups were not statistical significant.ConclusionsMOE of malignant obstructive jaundice liver correlates with elevated serum bilirubin levels and prothrombin time. It is significantly correlated with the incidence ofcomplications in patients with interventional drainage. But the impact on the decline ofbilirubin and serum, time of operation, bleeding volume and complications is notobvious.
