BackgroundSpinal fusion is the main method for treatment of spinal fractures, andautologous bone graft has been widely applied in the procedure, which has somedisadvantages. The disadvantages greatly limit its application. It is urgent to find oneartificial bone with high survival rate and small side effect to substitute autograft orallograft bone. The study results would have important clinical significanceObjectiveTo expore clinical study on Human MSCs and biphasic calcium phosphateceramics for patients with thoracolumbar vertebral fractures, it provides reference forclinical diagnosis and treatment.Methods50patients with single segmental thoracolumbar fractures wereCollected from January2012to October2013as the research object, Exclusion ofsecondary osteoporosis, myelodysplastic syndrome, diabetes, blood coagulationdysfunction, anemia, infectious diseases; serious insufficiency of heart, lung andkidney function; With other fractures.According to different materials of bone graftfusion, they can be divided into observation group (25cases) and control group (25cases). observation group had a treatment by Human MSCs and biphasic calciumphosphate ceramics. control group had a treatment by Autogenous iliac treatmentfor spinal fusion. All patients after spinal canal anesthesia had a short posteriorsegmental pedicle screw fixation in the middle of the road line.Selected patientspostoperative had follow-up survey in the preoperative and postoperative1month,3months, half year and1year, Cobb Angle, VAS score,(ODI) score and clinical curative effect of two groups of patients with different time points were compared.Resultsaccording to the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, early bed time andhospitalization days, general data index of observation group and control group had acomparison, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).Cobb Angle for two groups of patients in the preoperative and postoperative1month,3months,6months and1year was compared, in addition to the preoperativeindicators, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).Fanterior flange height ratio for two groups of patients in the preoperative andpostoperative1month,3months,6months and1year was compared, in addition tothe preoperative indicators, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).VAS score for two groups of patients in the preoperative and postoperative1month,3months,6months and1year was compared, in addition to the preoperativeindicators, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).ODI score for two groups of patients in the preoperative and postoperative1month,3months,6months and1year was compared, in addition to the preoperativeindicators, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Two groups of patients with postoperative1year had a low back pain score(LBOS), the observation group was88%(22/25), the control group was64%(16/25),two groups of the excellent and good rate were compared, the difference wasstatistically significant (P<0.05).ConclusionEnrichment of autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells combined withbipolar calcium phosphate (BCP) for bone fusion is safe and effective as bone graftsubstitute material, the technology of joint internal fixation treatment thoracolumbarfractures, clinical curative effect is better than that of autogenous bone grafts, it hasbroad application prospects.
