Professor Huang Huang is a modern classic formula physician with innovative spirit, the most valuable clinical part of his inheritance in TCM-classic formula, using modern medicine terminology to solve the enigma of traditional formula syndrome, combined with his own clinical experience, creatively putting forward the concept of" prescription-disease-man" as center of the theory of the correspondence between formula and syndrome and the theory of formula-man and herb-man, and in the standardization and objectivization of formula-syndrome, carry out preliminary attempts. He lay emphasis on clinical practice, in his longterm clinical experience, he accumulated a quite rich experience for the treatment of commonly seen diseases and complicated cases, which deserves that I further inherit and study it.Look up documents related to Professor Huang Huang in ckni, cqvip and wanfang databases and relevant books using the keywords listed below. Compile and analyze Professor Huang Huang’s clinical cases and select the cases with significant efficacy.Professor Huang Huang’s clinical practice manifests primarily in the ’formula-disease-patient’ model of diagnosis and treatment. His clinical rationales follow the ’formula-disease-patient’ triangle. The formula-patient relationship is the traditional formula application practice. It ensures the individualization of formula application and thereby improves safety of medication use. The formula-disease relationship is not only based on the traditional experience but more so on modern clinical observations. It plays a significant role in the establishment of the indicated disease spectrum of the classical formulas and ensures the specificity and efficacy of formula use. These clinical rationales thoroughly reflect TCM’s holistic concept and the essence of syndrome differentiation, and they provide inspiration for broadening the spectrum of modern classical formula application. After analyzing the representative cases, we found the key points to observe in Professor Huang Huang’s clinical application of classical formulas as follows:(1) physical attributes; (2) psychological states and behaviors observed in the clinics; (3) menstruation; (4) major patterns; (5) parts of the body each classical formula is indicated for; (6) diagnosed diseases; (7) pathogenic mechanism. The first two points were an elaboration on the formula-patient relationship, while the latter five points could be seen as a refinement of the formula-disease relationship.TCM is a course of practical medicine, it is the accumulation of knowledge and wisdom from the ancient people for thousands of year, in their struggle against diseases. In the process of studying and carrying forward TCM, the study of TCM academic ideology and clinical experience is especially important, its academic ideology is the crystal of its academic research, the integration of clinical practice and ancient people’s experience.
