Systematic Observation And Analysis Of Professor Huang Huang’s Clinical Experience On The Uses Of Ban Xia Hou Po Tang

Professor Huang Huang is a Chinese clinician-scholar in the classical herbal formula, in our era. He pioneers and passionately advocates the ’Herbal Formula-Disease-Person’ treatment thesis. In this dissertation paper, the clinical data of Professor Huang Huang using the formula ’Ban Xia Hou Pu Tang’(as BXHPT) are systematically analyse, and his experiences summarized based on the disease spectrum, symptom, body constitution, and other combinations of commonly used formula. The clinical significant and variation of the formula BXHPT are further explore.This research finds out that the application of Professor Huang Huang’s BXHPT is wide, from sensation of throat discomfort, to the treatment of paraesthesia. This formula is able to treat various neuropsychiatric disorders, especially effective for mental disorders. The target of BXHPT is rather specific, based on the respective body type. Hence, diagnosis based on body constitution, tend to results in high efficacy. The variation of the formula BXHPT is huge and it can be combine with many other formulas. This reflects the complexity and variability of the pathogenesis of "phlegm". The clinical application of BXHPT must be accompanied by drainage of emotions, and follow a specific way of consumption. Professor Huang Huang re-clarified the "burning sensation of pharynx" as the appearance of the abnormal sensation of pharynx and paresthesia. This is significant, as it widened the horizons of the clinical diagnosis. Through the lenses of classical prescriptions, the appearance of patient, pathology of disease, body constitution, psychology of patient, application scope of formula and disease spectrum, reflect the thesis of Professor’s ’Herbal Formula-Disease-Person’. His experiences in the application of BXHPT is worth learning and disseminated.
