Objective: Selected fraction of the effective of anti-respiratory syncytial virus extracted from Ardisia japonica(Thunb.)Blume, and then separated the active constituents. Methods: By extracting with 80% ethanol, separated f our fraction of Ardisia japonica(Thunb.)Blume. Using the essay of cytopathic effect, selected effective fraction of Ardisia japonica(Thunb.)Blume. Then selected constituents from effective fraction by polyamide chromatography column, silica gel column, macroporous resin column, Toyopearl HW-40 C column, Nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and so on.Results: Ethyl acetate and water section of Ardisia japonica(Thunb.)Blume had antiviral activity. The water parts was separated by macroporous resin column, indicated 30%, 60% ethanol portions had the obvious anti-RSV activity. Five compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate parts.By methods of the 1HNMR、13CNMR spectroscopic, the compounds that had been identified: emodin(1), angelicoidenol(2), quercetin(3), bergenin(4), quercetin-3-O-a-L-rhamnopyranoside(5).Among these compounds, angelicoidenol(2) was first obtained from this Ardisia japonica(Thunb.)Blume.Conclusion: Ethyl acetate and water section of Ardisia japonica(Thunb.)Blume had anti-RSV activity, providing the basis for further study on its mechanism.
