[Objective] Through site investigation on the nutritional states and nutritional knowledge, attitude and behavior of the compulsory education students in Hunan province, the status and influencing factors of students’ knowledge-attitude-behavior (KAP) on nutrition have been informed so as to provide the foundation for improving nutrition education pertinently and conducting the nutritional intervention more effectively in the future.[Method] This study used cluster sampling method and selected students from grades4-9Of schools with a total school number of15from the east area, central area, north area, west area and north area of Hunan Province. Through field test and questionnaire investigation, general information about students’ nutritional states and knowledge, attitude and behavior on nutrition have been collected. These questionnaires were analyzed statistically in corresponding to gender, age, family size, fathers’ educational level and mothers’ educational level. Finds the existing problems and puts forward the countermeasures.[Results] Students have relatively poor nutritional states, wherein students with normal nutrition occupy57%, students with poor nutrition occupy32%, states about overweight and obesity occupy11%. Students are generally lack of knowledge of nutrition and the average score is46.303out of100; they have good attitude on nutrition with an average score of26.924out of50; a certain of malnutrition is affected these students with an average score of54.3756out of100. Girls’ scores on knowledge, attitude and behavior on nutrition are slightly higher than that of boys’; KAP of students of different ages has obvious differences and older students have higher scores on knowledge of nutrition with better attitude and behavior; family size has a more significant impact on student nutrition knowledge and attitude and the scores on student nutrition knowledge and attitude is the highest when family number is3, while the scores are lowest when there are5or over5people in the family; The higher the education level of parents, the more knowledge on nutrition students will possess. And students with more knowledge on nutrition will have a better nutrition attitude and behavior as well. Students’ nutritional knowledge, attitudes and behaviors have positive correlation relationship with nutritional states.[Conclusion] Students have relatively poor nutritional states, wherein students with poor nutrition occupy32%and the phenomena about overweight and obesity occupy11%. The nutrition knowledge grasped by compulsory education students in Hunan Province is not enough and needs to be strengthened; situation about nutrition attitude and behavior is not optimistic. Students have a low level on nutrition knowledge. The excellence rate was only7.52%and the passing rate was56.67%. They are lack of related knowledge on dietary nutrition, nutrition and disease. The lack of nutrition knowledge has a negative impact on nutrition attitude and nutrition behavior. Students who got lower scores on nutrition knowledge also have lower scores on nutrition attitude and nutrition behavior. Students have no clear understanding about food combinations, dietary nutrition sources and the corresponding chronic disease. Gender, age, family size, parents’ education level also have significant effects on students KAP. Students with higher level of nutritional knowledge, attitudes and behaviors always have better nutritional states; students with relatively good nutritional states have relatively good nutritional knowledge, attitudes and behaviors.
