Humulus scandens (Lour.)Merr. is the plant of family Moraceae and genus of Humulus, and is commonly known as Lala seeding. The whole plant of Humulus scandens can be used as traditional Chinese medicine. Recent studies have found that Humulus scandens has complex chemical compounds, mainly flavonoids, terpenes, steroids, glycosides, alkaloids, etc. Humulus scandens has a variety of pharmacological effects, such as, anti-bacterial, anti-tuberculosis and so on. The Humulus scandens is mainly grown in the temperate zone and subtropics of the northern hemisphere. In our country, in addition to Xinjiang and Qinghai Province, Humulus scandens is distributed in North China. As a Chinese herbal medicine,we have need to study Humulus scandens. This article provides an overview of recent domestic and international aspects of the pharmacological effects of the Humulus scandens, the active ingredient and chemical components. But the report about Oxidation resistance of Humulus scandens was seldom, because of this reason, DPPH radical scavenging activity experiment was used to text the antioxidant activity of Humulus scandens components, synchronization of the components of tyrosinase activity were also detected. According to the data of activity, better active ingredients were selected. The sample of Humulus scandens was come from Changbai mountains. In this experiment, the free radical scavenging activity and Tyrosinase inhibitory activity were used to text the activity of Humulus scandens. The silica gel column chromatography, ODS reversed phased column chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC were used to isolate the extract of Humulus scandens, and 8 compounds were isolated. The structures of the 5 compounds were indentified by physical properties and spectroscopic data. The names of 5 compounds were simiarenol, bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, cis-N-P-coumaroyltyramine, apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside, adenosine. The apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside and adenosine were glycosides, they show better antioxidant capacity, which can provide basis for further development of Humulus scandens.
