Humulus scandens (Lour.) Merr, which belongs to the plant of Angiosperm Dicotyledoneae Sankoh and genus of Humulus, grows annual or perennial Twining vine herb and has a wide range of use in traditional medical. The common name of H.scandensis LaLa seeding, tiger vine ect.The H.scandenshave a powerful vitality and abundant resources. The H.scandensis mainly grown in the Southwest,South,North,Northeast and other provinces and autonomous regions except Qinghai,Xinjiang.Besides, North America and North Korea also have distributed.Generally, people regard H.scandensasweed and get rid of it.Due to the H.scandenswounding on crops or fruit trees affecting the growth of various types of crops seriously,so the H.scandenshas been unnoticed over the years. In fact,it has great value of traditional Chinese medicine. If we rational develop and utilize it,we can change waste into treasure. This paper summarizes the two aspects of the research status of H. scandens on pharmacological effects and the chemical composition in domestic and international recent years. In this experiment, the Luciferase reporter gene assay, MTT Colorimetry, DPPH radical scavenging activity and Tyrosinase inhibitory activity are used as a guide. According to activity guide, H.scandens was isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of methanol extract H.scandens. The liquid-liquid extraction, silica gel column chromatography, ODS reversed phase column chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC and modern chromatographic methods were used to isolate the ethyl acetate extract of the H.scandens, and 14 compounds were isolated. And then the structure of the 9 compounds were indentified by nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectroscopy and other modern analysis methods..Nine compounds were carried out the experiment of the DPPH radical scavenging activity and Tyrosinase inhibitory activity. The results show that, The compound 7 and 9 toward DPPH radical scavenging activity have an ability of the most prominent. The IC50 value of DPPH radical scavenging activity of compound 7 and 9 is 0.04μg/mL and 0.07μg/mL, which is less than the IC50 value of vitamin C reference(2.76μg/mL). And this result can confirmthe compound 7 and 9 have a strong anti-oxidant capability. So it can provide the basis for further research and development of the H.scandensand give a experimental evidence.
