Electroacupuncture On Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Curative Effect And The Influence Of Serum Levels Of Cytokines

Objective: Knee osteoarthritis(Knee osteoarthritis,KOA) is one of the most common clinical joint disease,Often occur in the elderly, especially women.Its high incidence and high morbidity seriously affect the patient’s quality of life.There is no specific treatment right now,but Electroacupuncture(EA) in the treatment is unique,and achieved ideal clinical effect. This research is EA in the treatment of Knee osteoarthritis. We observed the clinical therapeutic effect between baseline and post-treatment by scales and indexes. We analyze the data of EA treatment of knee osteoarthritis in different courses,and screen the best course of EA intervention for KOA.Methods: All the 60 patients came from Wuhan Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine’s Acupuncture inpatient,who were collected strictly accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria.All of these patients are administered EA therapy.Acupoints: “Neixiyan”(EX-LE5), “Dubi”(ST35), “Liangqiu”(ST34) and “Xuehai”(SP10). These patients receive EA with high-intensity current(2m A<current<5m A).They will be treated with EA once every day, 30 minutes per time,6 times as a course, totally treated with 2 courses.We recorded and evaluate the scores of WOMAC,VAS,PPI before and aftertreatment.Then we tested the patients’ plasma VEGF.Resulets:1.Comparison of symptom curative effect index(WOMAC 、 VAS 、PPI):After treatment of EA,there are statistical difference between baseline and post-treatment in scores of WOMAC,VAS,PPI(P﹤0.01).2.Comparison of the level of plasma VEGF: EA can obviously reduce the content of VEGF in patients’ blood(P< 0.05).3.Best course of EA intervention for KOA:Through the statistical analysis between four groups,change rate of WOMAC,VAS,PPI and the level of plasma VEGF had no statistical significance(P< 0.05).Conclusion:1.EA intervention can effectively release the clinical symptoms of knee osteoarthritis patients,especially analgesic effect,It improved the living quality of the patients.2.EA can effectively lower the content of VEGF content,It suggested that one of the mechanism of EA treating KOA may be due to regulation of the plasma VEGF content.3.EA to the patients of different knee osteoarthritis pain symptoms of time all have remarkable curative effect. According to this study there was no difference in the curative effect of each course.
