Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Original-Qi Preserving Decoction in treating the Chronic Heart Failure with deficiency of Both Qi and Yin, explore the mechanism of Original-Qi Preserving Decoction, evaluate its efficacy and safety, aiming at providing practical and valuable way and valuable therapeutic approach for the clinical treatment of Chronic Heart Failure. Methods: According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, we select 60 cases of both outpatient and inpatient coming from the General Internal Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong Traditional Chinese Medicine University. We used the prospective randomized controlled study method and randomly divided the 60 cases into experimental and control groups. There is no significant difference between the two groups. The control group used general treatment and conventional Western medicine treatment while the experimental group used modified Original-Qi Preserving Decoction besides the basic treatment of the control group. We evaluated the clinical efficacy four weeks later. We chose patients security index(routine analysis of blood, routine urinalysis, routine stool test, the index changes of liver and kidney function), integral of Chinese medical symptoms, Lee’s heart failure points, classification of cardiac function(NYHA), and ultrasonic cardiogram(stroke volume, cardiac output, cardiac index, ejection function, E/A) and results of BNP to evaluate its efficacy and safety. Results: It can be concluded that the therapies of experimental group was better than the control group in the treatment of chronic heart failure with Both Qi and Yin deficiency. The total effective rate of experimental group is 90.0%, which is higher than the total effective rate of control group according to lee’s heart failure points. Comparing total symptoms of TCM, the total effective rate of experimental group was83.3% and the total effective rate of control group was 66.7%.The difference of the total effective rate between the two groups was statistically significant according to signed-rank test(P<0.05). Analysis of single symptom of TCM showed that the experimental group was better than the control group(P<0.05). The laboratory examination showed that the NT- proBNP of experimental group declined more apparently and the ultrasonic cardiogram showed the cardiac function improved after the treatment of modified Original-Qi Preserving Decoction(P<0.05). Safety index showed no statistical difference before and after the experiment. Conclusion: modified Original-Qi Preserving Decoction can improve the clinical symptoms and laboratory indexes of chronic heart failure with Both Qi and Yin deficiency and improve patients’ quality of life. The Modified Shengmai Liquid has good safety and tolerability, and is worth further research and extension.
