Objective:To provide the basis for the quality control of Bidens pilosa L., Bidens pilosa L.was taken as the object to research systematically and establish the quality standard of Bidens pilosa L.of Shanxi Province. Methods:Bidens pilosa L. used as a dry whole plant enters into the liver, lung and large intestine. Bidens pilosa L. is bitter in taste, neutral in nature and non-toxic. The collected Bidens pilosa L. was identified by Professor Yune Bai of Shanxi medical university. In this study, Bidens pilosa L. was systematically, identified by origin identification, microscopic identification and thin-layer identification. Bidens pilosa L. was also compared with its adulterants(Bidens bipinnata L. and Bidens biternata(Lour.) Merr et sherff) in characters. The study checked on the 10 batches of Bidens pilosa L. collected from domestic. Based on the 2010 Pharmacopoeia of People’s Republic of China, the quality standards has established and set out a series of limits of impurities. There are many chemical compositions in Bidens pilosa L., such as flavonoids, polyacetylenes, coumarins, organic acid and there ester. Flavonoids are the main active components in Bidens pilosa L., they can be anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and have a good protective effect on the liver and cardiovascular system. In order to the quality standards of Bidens pilosa L., the study selected rutin and hyperoside as indexes, optimized the extraction conditions of them and established HPLC to determine the content by conducted the verification methodology. In this paper, a preliminary study was carried out to establish the linear gradient elution conditions of HPLC fingerprint of Bidens pilosa L.. With rutin as reference substance, relative retention time and relative peak area were in line with the provisions of RSD%. Results:The results of basic identification showed that there were great differences. The identification characteristics of original plants and Bidens pilosa L. pieces has been developed in this study, and the main microscopic characteristics of stem transverse slice and powder also has been established. The TLC method to identify rutin and hyperoside in Bidens pilosa L..The limit check set out a series of limits. The results showed that impurities(below 2.5%),moisture(below 11.0%),total ash(below 17.0%),acid-insoluble ash(below 3.0%), heavy metal(less than twenty millionths),arsenic salt(less than five millionths) and extractives(above 16.0%).The results of content determination showed that in the 10 batches of Bidens pilosa L., the content of rutin was 63.81~155.33μg·g-1 and the content of hyperoside was 78.90~144.49μg·g-1. 16 common peaks were confirmed by the HPLC fingerprint of Bidens pilosa L. The fingerprint similarity of the 10 batches of Bidens pilosa L. is between 0.423~0.796. The fingerprint similarity of the 4 batches coming from Yuncheng is 0.994~0.998, and the the 4 batches coming from Bozhou is 0.859~0.981. Conclusions: The 10 batches of Bidens pilosa L. were studied in this study. The quality standard of Bidens pilosa L.was established. The research method is simple and the result is accurate and reliable. As a method to control the quality, it can provide the basis for the safety and efficacy of Bidens pilosa L..
