In 2009, the German surgeon Hohenberger proposed complete mesocolic excision(CME) combined with a central vascular ligation(C VL) for the treatment of colon cancer. Because the operation accurately point out that the surgical plane of colon cancer operation, promote central vascular ligation, focus on colon cancer lymph node metastasis patterns of diversity, advocates of a multiple-organ resection, so once the surgery was introduced the worldwide concerns of the surgery were gained. Many subsequent studies have proved that complete mesocolic excision combined with central vascular ligation(CME-CVL) could havest more regional lymph nodes, got specimens with higher quality, and had a better outcome. Many scholars also actively applied the operation in laparoscopic operation and have obtained the ideal results. Although the surgey is still be doubted, more and more surgeons have increasingly regard CME-CVL as may be the standard operation for colon cancer. With the popularization and experience summary of the CME-CVL operation, the treatment level of colon cancer is likely to be further improved.
