Correlation Analysis Between The Occurence Of Epidimic Disease In Shanxi During Ming And Qing Dynasty And The Theory Of Five Movements And Six Climates

The theory of five movements and six climates in “Huangdi’s Canon of Medicine”plant the root in our country’s excellent and traditional culture. It was based on the theory of Yin and Yang and the theory of five elements, and use Chinese era to calculation,as well as under the guidance of the thought of correspondence between man and nature,finally not only pointed out the mysterious and effable relationship between life and nature creatively,but also explored the periodic trend between the two actively. How to use the theory of Movements and Climates scientifically and flexibly, as well as play the function of prediction and prevention in major epidemic worth further study.Objectives: By according to study systematically the “Seven Major Discourses” and its two left writings as well as combining the conditions of the epidemic diseases in Shanxi during Ming and Qing dynasty, so discussing the change of climate, phenological correlation with the epidemic, then offering the theoretical reference scientifically and flexibly in prediction and prevention the major epidemic and better developing the theory of Chinese medicine research scope in the field of public health in the mean time.Methods: 1.Use philology study methods to collection and study of the relationship between five movements and six climates in “Seven Major Discourses” in my thesis,which has four parts, are diagnostic significance of five movements, diagnostic significance of six climates, conformation with movements and climates,disharmony of movements and climates, and each part which is deficiency, stagnation and dispersal of five elements and, control heaven, guest climatic qi and host climatic qi superposition,guest climatic qi and host climatic qi restriction, restriction and recovery of six climates is made summarize and classify, through the above, the section use three orders to discuss the characteristics of the diseases,the order respectively are five elements order(wood, fire,earth, mental, water), six climates order(internal wood, monarch fire, wet soil, ministerial fire, dry mental, cold water), heavenly stems and earthly branches order(Ziwu, Chouwei,Yinshen, Maoyou, Chenwu, Jihai),the analyze the profound connotation in theoretically of movements and climates theory, finally, I concluded the five movements and six climates is the classical theory that was the ancients based on they observed the law of climate, biotemperature, astronomical phenomena and combined the long period of clinical experience. 2. Under the guidance of historical materialism and positivist historiography,reorganize Shanxi epidemic disease’s historical materials in the period of Ming and Qingdynasty and combine the heavenly stems and earthly branches order, period of six climates and the kinds of epidemic to build Shanxi epidemic chronological table during the period of Ming and Qing dynasty and make it pre~process and denoise scientifically, then using“access” to establish database and pre~processing the datum in database in the statistics and analysis platform(SPSS19.0), finally reaching the related diagram. And use the methods of macroexamination with example illustration, choose the major outbreaks at different periods, then study the epidemic’s internal law and influence factor.Results: 1.It is known that the epidemic high happening during the Wanli era in Shanxi epidemic chronological table during the period of Ming dynasty, the epidemics spreads 201 counties and the most serious about 18 times. From the climatic factors, the replacement of rain and drought is the mainspring of the occurrence of epidemic. The main kinds of epidemic are fever with a swollen head and pharyngitis. Through the analysis and process by statistics, we can see obvious continuities between prevalent of epidemic and the weather disaster frequency of occurrence, it can be divided by three stages: before 5th year of emperor Wanli’s reign(1577), weather disaster primary is small~scaled drought,historical materials and local chronicles didn’t describe in detail about the unusual climate and phonological and can be thought that that period didn’t occur the big epidemic; the 8th to 16 th year of emperor Wanli’s reign(1580~1588), epidemic frequency of occurrence and the spread of the total county reached the first peak, the most serious epidemic is the spring and summer of the 13 th to 16 th of emperor Wanli’s reign(1585~1590); 2.It is known that the epidemic high happening during the Tongzhi and Guangxu era in Shanxi epidemic chronological table during the period of Qing dynasty, the epidemics affects 38 times and spreads 92 counties. From the climatic factors, the drought, snow disaster and weather disaster is the mainspring of the occurrence of epidemic. The main kinds of epidemic are malaria, cholera and pharyngitis. Through the analysis and process by statistics, we can see obvious continuities between prevalent of epidemic in Qing dynasty and the weather disaster frequency of occurrence, it can be divided by three stages: before 40 th year of emperor Kangxi’s reign(1701), weather disaster primary is small~scaled weather disaster,the occurrence of epidemic ensemble average under 15 times every year; the 40 th year of emperor Kangxi’s reign to 63 th year of emperor Qianlong reign(1701~1798), epidemic frequency of occurrence and the times of weather disaster reached minimum value; after63 th year of emperor Qianlong’s reign(1798), that is the middle and late period of Qingdynasty, the occurrence of epidemic reached a peak, over 45 times every year. The Ding~wu Disaster that is the most shocking appeared in this time range.Discuss: the formation of the five movements and six climates theory is the careful observed the aspect astrology, climates and phonological by ancients and long ~ term clinical experience summary, Chinese era is its deduction tools, when the five movements and six climates theory applied not only depends on the deduction of count, it’s the misunderstanding about the people who hold the skepticism about the scientific of the five movements and six climates theory; modern meteorological data improve the accuracy of the prediction epidemic occurrence in use of the theory, but it needs the combination of meteorology, pharyngitis, pulse condition and symptom to comprehensive analysis; the five movements and six climates theory can’t directly and correctly predict the occurrence of the epidemic but analysis the occurrence of epidemic’s condition and infer the occurrence of epidemic’s necessary and sufficient condition reasonably, the study of “the epidemic changed after 3 years” need refer to six climates superposition, combination of movements and climates and other objective factors to use flexibly in actual mechanical process.Conclusion: the description of the weather condition about the epidemic occurred before and the symptom feature about epidemic occurred in the five movements and six climates theory is similar to the characteristics of infectious disease epidemics in modern medicine, it speaks volumes for the theory’s warning system and prevention have important value; through the comprehensive and intensive analysis about epidemic in Shanxi during Ming and Qing dynasty combined with the five movements and six climates theory, we found that the theory not only can predict the occurrence of epidemic accuracy,but also come up with the relevant rules of treatment about the epidemic; the study of “the epidemic changed after 3 years” that combined the occurrence of epidemic and the change of weather and the rule of movements and climates near the few years is the kernel of the five movements and six climates theory. To use the theory must first analysis whether exists the presupposition of the five movements and six climates or not, then according to six climates analysis the actual change one by one can get anticipative effects.
