Objective To investigate the protective effects of Shenfu Injection on lung injury in rats with sepsis.Methods To establish a rat model of sepsis by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).72 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups,24 rats in each group:sham operation group, sepsis group, Shenfu group. After the preparation of animal model of successful groups in the abdominal cavity injection Shen Fu Injection (10 ml/kg) or the same volume of normal saline, after 3 hours,12 hours and 24 hours was detected in lung tissue homogenate were superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH PX), xanthine purine oxidase (XO) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content. HE staining was performed on paraffin embedded sections of lung tissue, and pathological changes of lung tissue were observed under light microscope.Results Shenfu intervention activity of SOD and GSH-Px in lung tissue of rats increased significantly compared with the sepsis group(P<0.01), while XO and MDA were decreased significantly (P<0.01). Inflammatory cell infiltration in lung tissue gradually reduced after intervene by Shenfu Injection, pulmonary edema and pulmonary hemorrhage and pulmonary atelectasis is reduced gradually, gradually repair alveolar septum.Conclusion Shenfu injection can decrease pulmonary oxygen free radicals and reduce lung injury.
