Objective: Correlation between gene polymorphism of ApaI and BsmI locus of vitamin D receptor(VDR) gene and vitamin D level for gerontal Han patients suff ered from mild cognitive impairment(MCI)in Xinjiang was investigated. Methods: Based on the MCI epidemiological investigation for gerontal Uyghur and Han patie nts from Jul 2010 to Jul 2014 in Xinjiang, MCI diagnostic criteria from the Diagn ostic and Statistical Manual-IV(DSM-IV) issued by the American Psychiatric Asso ciation was used, 100 cases of MCI patients were selected in the MCI group(Fema le 57 cases, male 43 cases), mean age(77.22±6.59)years old;145 cases of persons were selected in the control group(Female 70 cases, male 75 cases), mean age(76.72±5.71)years old;SNaPshot method was used to detect genotype of Apa I and Bs mI locus of VDR gene, and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)method w as used to detect serum 25(OH)D concentration. Results: There were statistically si gnificant difference in ApaI genotype and allele frequency distribution and Bsm I ge notype and allele frequency distribution in both of MCI and control group( P<0.05),A allele of Apa I gene increased the risk of MCI[OR=1.872,95%CI:1.272~2.755, P<0.05],AA genotype increased the risk of MCI[OR=9.121,95%CI:3.712~22.412, P<0.05],T allele of Bsm I gene increased the risk of MCI [OR=2.206,95%CI:1.001~4.859, P<0.05],CT genotype increased the risk of MCI[OR=2.857,95%CI:1.208~6.758, P<0.05];The 25(OH)D level in MCI group is 60.19±31.73ng/ml,and the 25(OH)D l evel in control group is 70.50±37.50ng/ml,MCI group is lower than control group and there were statistically significant difference between MCI and control group(t=-2.24, P<0.05); The 25(OH)D level of CC and CA+AA genotype of Apa I gene are80.82±34.37ng/ml and 73.58±31.95ng/ml; The 25(OH)D level of CC and CT+TT genotype of Bsm I gene are 59.36±33.06ng/ml and 64.58±23.96ng/ml. Gene polymor phism(different genotypes)of ApaI and BsmI locus of VDR gene and vitamin D le vel in MCI group had no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)two gene polymorphism of Apa I and BsmI locus is related to occurrence of gerontal Han pa tients suffered from MCI.(2)The vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased odds of cognitive impairment in the elderly Xinjiang Han people.(3)two gene poly morphism of ApaI and BsmI locus of vitamin D receptor(VDR) gene and vitamin D level for who suffered from mild cognitive impairment is not associated.
