Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of three-step spasm-relieving massage combined with conventional rehabilitation therapy for the ankle spasm of children with spastic cerebral palsy and provide both a new treatment and reference for children with the disease. Methods: Sixty children cases met the criteria with spastic cerebral palsy were randomly divided into research group and control group on the basis of the randomised number table, with 30 cases in each group. The research group was treated with both three-step spasm-relieving massage and conventional rehabilitation, while the control group was treated with simple conventional rehabilitation. Muscle tension of gastrocnemius, passive dorsiflexion angle of ankle joints and gross motor function measure of lower limbs were observed and recorded before and 4 courses after the treatment respectively. And the clinical efficacy was evaluated through statistical analysis on the basis of the data obtained. Results:(1)In terms of muscle tension of gastrocnemius, passive dorsiflexion angle of ankle joints and gross motor function measure of lower limbs of children in two groups after treatment, there was statistical significance( P < 0.05) between them.(2)In terms of muscle tension of gastrocnemius, passive dorsiflexion angle of ankle joints and gross motor function measure of lower limbs of two groups after treatment, the differense between them was statistically significant( P < 0.05).(3)In terms of the effectiveness of muscle tension of gastrocnemius, research group and control group reached 86.7% and 80.0% respectively after treatment, which suggest there was statistical significance( P < 0.05) between them.(4)In terms of the effectiveness of passive dorsiflexion angle of ankle joints, research group and control group reached 86.7% and 76.7% resPectively after treatment, which showed there was statistical significance( P < 0.05) between them.(5)Children with cerebral palsy did not appear massage-related adverse effects like bone fracture, bleeding, coma, infection and soft tissue injury during treatment. Conclusions:(1) Three-step spasm-relieving massage combined with conventional rehabilitation and conventional rehabilitation can both reduce the muscle tension of gastrocnemius, relieve ankle spasm, increase passive dorsiflexion angle of ankle joints and improve the gross motor function of lower limbs.(2) While compared to conventional rehabilitation, the combined treatment can work much better.
