objectiveWith retrospectively studying the clinical data of the infants from Pediatric Department of Guangdong Hospital of Chinese Medicine and Guangdong Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western and Guangzhou Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western, the study was aimed to analyze the application of medicine of bronchiolitis and compared the integrated ChineseWestern therapy of bronchiolitis with the Western therapy’s. Then it wish to provide a new ideas of scheming the better treatment of bronchiolitis in China.MethodsThis study was retrospective cohort studies. Firstly, it should to collect the clinical data of the infants presenting with acute bronchiolitis. All of them ranging in age from 2 months to 2 years were from Pediatric Department of three hospital. Then it should analyze the application of medicine of the data. According to the treatment of the integrated ChineseWestern therapy or the Western therapy, the infants should be separated into two groups.Finally, the curative effect of two groups would be evaluate.Results107 eligible case have been collected,53 in the integrated ChineseWestern therapy group and 54 in the Western therapy group. The two groups were similar in all clinical and historical characteristics, including sex and the age and length before checking into the hospital and bronchiolitis severity score when checking into the hospital. In the status of using medicine, the use of antimicrobials were 54 cases and the use of Montelukast were 40 cases and the use of Ambroxol Hydrochloride Injection were 45 cases.The integrated ChineseWestern therapy group were used more less medications than the Western therapy group. The difference between the groups in the bronchiolitis severity score of the infants hospitalized at the second day was not statistically significant, but was statistically significant at the inpatient length of stay. The inpatient length of stay of the integrated ChineseWestern therapy group were Shorten about one day than another.Conclusion1.The results suggest that many medication, including antibiotics, bronchodilators, glucocorticoid, etc, were used to treat acute bronchiolitis in the Pediatric Department. There was no guideline to guide clinician to make the treatment of acute bronchiolitis. So there were excessive medical treatment and the state of chaos of treatment. It needs to make the clinical guideline in China.2.It would shorten the inpatient length of stay of acute bronchiolitis and reduce the use of western medicine if combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment.
