Objective:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) is one of the common head and neck cancer, nasopharyngeal primary tumor growth depends on the proliferation of tumor angiogenesis, vascular endothelial growth factor is known to the strongest, the most specific angiogenic growth factors, can induce the formation of tumor angiogenesis. Of newly diagnosed patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the majority were advanced, most have lymph node metastasis. Combined with Radiotherapy While increasing the rate of complete remission and 2/3-year survival rate, but also increases the moderate to severe adverse reactions, resulting in decreased quality of life for patients, according to nasopharyngeal poorly differentiated, high transfer characteristics, most advanced patients with a poor prognosis. In this study, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay put chemotherapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma before and after treatment peripheral serum VEGF expression levels for quantitative analysis, and the use of head and neck cancer in patients with functional assessment questionnaire FACT-H& N (V4.0) evaluated before and after radiotherapy nose pharyngeal cancer patients quality of life, aims to understand the impact of pulse-taking acupuncture on serum VEGF expression levels and quality of life of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Whether serum level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as evaluation pulse-taking acupuncture improve a biological marker of prognosis in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is the study of a point. Methods:The first time by pathological diagnosed as nasopharyngeal carcinoma, UICC (2010) clinical stage III and III than, range in 18~ 70 years-old, before the group without distant metastasis and 30 cases without chemo researchers randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Wherein the test group of 15 cases,15 cases in the control group, the experimental group received neoadjuvant chemotherapy plus concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy+ Pulse-taking Acupuncture treatment of patients in the control group were treated using neoadjuvant chemotherapy plus concurrent chemotherapy. All of patients were not hospitalized before treatment, the next day after the end of the second process of chemotherapy, a month after the end of radiotherapy collected peripheral blood 2ml, the serum was separated, cryopreservation test backup. Before radiotherapy and one month after the end of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer were filled out quality of life scale FACT-H &N (V4.0). Using SPSS20.0 statistical software for data processing and statistical analysis, comparing two groups of patients before and after the change of serum VEGF and quality of life improvement in statistical t-test, fisher exact test, rank sum test, Spearman correlation analysis.Results:1. The experimental group and control group 1 month after radiotherapy than VEGF level before treatment difference was statistically significant, P< 0.05; experimental group after 1 month than chemotherapy after radiotherapy VEGF levels drop (263.63±290.558) ng/L, the control group after 1 month than chemotherapy after radiotherapy levels drop(58.13±324.355) ng/L, which is P< 0.05, the difference was statistically significant.2.The control group of patients before and after radiotherapy FACT-H& N Scale score of each module and total scores were significantly decreased before and after radiotherapy were significantly different P<0.05. Patients after radiotherapy, test group in physical condition (PWB), social and family status (SWB), emotional state (EWB), functional status (FWB), head and neck module and survival quality total score were higher than that in control group, and its difference (P< 0.05, the difference was statistically significant. Prompt control patients after radiotherapy survival quality decline in a test group.3.There was a negative correlation between the level of VEGF and the difference between the total score of quality of life before and after the 4 test group, difference of radiotherapy. Conclusions:1. Pulse-taking Acupuncture combined with radiation and chemotherapy can reduce peripheral serum VEGF levels in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Relative to the fall of pure chemoradiotherapy is bigger.2.Pulse-taking Acupuncture combined with radiation and chemotherapy treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the higher the degree of VEGF decreased before and after the treatment, survival quality change is smaller, the better the quality of life. May by lower VEGF levels can improve the quality of survival, improve the prognosis.
