ObjectiveInfantile anorexia includes a large range of clinical symptoms, such as abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, anorexia and so on. Evidences can’t find in organic diseases of the digestive tract that can explain these symptoms. To compare with the medication and acupuncture, massage have a large advantage which has non-invasive and painless therapy without side effects. Comparatively, Wuzhichanyin therapy pay more attention to concept of healthcare for both the body and the spirit than the traditional massage technique. Thus, it’s mostly practiced on the abdomen, importantly on Shenque(Ren-8), the center of the umbilicus. It has the direct action on harmonizing the gastrointestinal tract and the spirit. As of this year, massage has been more useful in pure functional gastrointestinal disorders rather than those who have had organic diseases of other systems already. This study shows a randomized controlled trial. In order to observe and evaluate Wuzhichanyin therapy therapeutic effect, we compare it with the traditional massage. For the sake of exploring a safe, reliable, effective and easily promoted method to treat the infantile anorexia.Methods50 children who have infantile anorexia were asked to join this study. After that, we divided then randomly into Wuzhichanyin therapy group and traditional massage group. Each group have 25 patients. Each of them have to be treated for 4 times. Respectively, the two groups before and after treatment of symptoms and efficacy were needed to compared, and use the result to do the statistical analysis.ResultBefore treatment, there was no significant difference between the Wuzhichanyin group and traditional massage group. After treatment, the cure rate between the traditional massage group and Wuzhichanyin group was 18.0% and 25.0%; the effective rate between the traditional massage group and Wuzhichanyin group was 20.0% and 56.0%; the cure rate and effective rate and the total effective rate were 60.0% and 80.0%, even if the two groups in the total efficiency was no significant difference, but Wuzhichanyin group total efficiency significantly higher than traditional massage group, the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). the Chinese medicine score between the traditional massage group and Wuzhichanyin group all have fallen down after cure. And the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). The difference between the two groups before and after treatment, the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Even if the two groups in the total efficiency was no significant difference, but the cure rate of Wuzhichanyin group was obviously higher than that of the traditional massage group.ConclusionThis study shows that Wuzhichanyin therapy has a certain effect in treating infantile anorexia. Thus, a broader and deeper research evaluation is expected to make.
