Ardisia crenata Sims is a species of Ardisia (Myrsinaceae), root used medicinally, with the effect of detoxification, relieving swelling, activating blood and relieving pain, eliminating wind and dampness. Ardisia crenata Sims is also a good kind of medicinal garden plant, which much of the country has been grown. Fujian Niannianhong Flower show Co., Wuping County has found several variation types of Ardisia crenata Sims in the process of planting. To guiding the production and breeding elite germplasm, the research contents and results of comprehensive evaluation of different germplasm of Ardisia crenata Sims are as follows.1. Adopting the method of freehand section, powder cinematics, leaf epidermis tear and so on. the root, stem and leaf’ pharmacognostical histological research of Ardisia crenata Sims were studied, the microscopic characteristics of the transverse section and powder characteristics of each parts were described. It provided reference for the development and utilization of Ardisia crenata Sims.2. A method was established for determinating the content of total saponins, total flavonoids and total phenols, and the content of bergenin. myricetin, quercetin and kaempferol in each part were determined. The results showed the 7 indexes of each part had a larger difference on content, and the difference of chemical components contents of aerial parts was greater than the underground parts. G2’root had 5 indexes for maximum, and the bergenin content was higher than 32.83% of the content of the Pharmacopoeia. G2 was the germplasm of rich in chemical composition. The content of the 6 indexes in G3 peel were the highest. HLS’stem and leave had a number of indexes for the maximum, the root of bergenin content was highest in G2, could explain the folk Ardisia crenata Sims’ colour darker effect was better.3. A method of GC-MS analysis for Ardisia crenata Sims leaf volatile oil was established. It was found that there were a difference between each idioplasms in composition and content. Each germplasms of Ardisia crenata Sims leaf volatile oil molecular weight more than 200 components respectively accounted for 89.08%、 83.3%、 82.08%、 77.07%、84.75%、89.4%.4. Using DPPH and ABTS in vitro antioxidant model on different parts of each germplasms of Ardisia crenata, it was founded that all of the extracts had certain antioxidant activity. The best activity extract of root and stem was G2, The best activity extract of leaf was G5, and the peel of G3 was the best activity. The correlation analysis between the antioxidant activity and the content of the chemical components showed that the scavenging free radical activity of root, leaf and peel were significantly related to the content of total flavonoids and total phenolics.5. The model of xylene-induced ear edema and acetic acid writhing in mice were adoptted to comparing anti inflammatory and analgesic activities of each germplasms of Ardisia crenata. It was found that there was a significant difference between the control group and the administrated groups. The results showed that each germplasms had significant anti inflammatory and analgesic activities, and the best activity of the anti-inflammatory and analgesic was G2, and the results were consistent with the analysis of the chemical components.
