[Objective] To compare the long-term effects of the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization of gelatin sponge particles and kelp micro gelation.[Methods] Clinical data of 75 patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization were analyzed retrospectively. According to the diffidence of embolic agents divided into experimental group (n=39, using kelp micro gelation combined with lipiodol) and control group, the experimental group (n=36, using gelatin sponge particles combined with lipiodol). The incidence rate of postoperative complications, the change of liver function and 1-year,2-years,3-years cumulative survival rate were compared.[Results] There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups. The change of ALT after TAEC in control group was higher than that in experimental group, but there was no significant difference in the change of AST, TBIL, ALB, PALB after TAEC between the two groups. There was no significant difference of1-year,2-years,3-years cumulative survival rate between two groups.[Conclusion] The kelp micro gelation is safe and effective in treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, and it is excepted to an alternative of gelatin sponge particles and is worth promoting in clinical application...
