Breast cancer is one of the most common female malignancy. The status of axillary node metastasis is one of the most important factors which judge the prognosis, and is also the important basis of postoperative adjuvant treatment. The application of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy(SLNB) avoid many complication of Axillary Lymph Node Dissection(ALND)for many patients with early breast cancer. With the improvement of pathological examination techniques, many small metastatic foci is found constantly, which contain Micrometastasis(MM) and Isolated Tumor Cells(ITC). But, the sensitivity and specificity of varied pathological examinations differ greatly at the aspect of micrometastasis. However, the following issues are whether MM have an obvious fluence on patients’ postoperative survival rate and whether there’s a need for a further ALND. This paper will introduce and discuss these topics.
