Constipation is one of the most common non-motor symptoms of PD, but patients do not pay attention to it, treatment is often delayed, then patient’s condition is worse. Therefore, the symptoms of constipation should be given high priority, early and effective treatment can improve the quality of life of patients. Cistanche is one of Chinese medicine tonics, it can reinforce kidney to strengthen yang and loosen bowel to relieve constipation. I aim to study the pathogenesis of constipation of Parkinson’s disease. I use cistanche granules to treat constipation of Parkinson’s disease and observe the treatment effect. I think it can relieve symptoms of PD patients and improve quality of life.Method:Patients with Parkinson’s disease that who were inpatients and outpatients of Neurology Department, TCM Hospital, Nanjing from April.2015 to February.2016 were selected. According to the standard,40 patients were adopted. They were randomly divided into two groups. They were all treated by western medicine.20 patients in the treatment group also taked cistanche granules. They take 10g once, twice a day. After 4 weeks, I evaluated CSS, PAC-QOL and PDQ-39 for efficacy. I applied SPSS 17.0 statistical software for the statistical analysis of all statistical data. Conclusions:The differences between two groups in age, gender, disease stage, disease duration, medicine dosage and CSS score, PAC-QOL score, PDQ39 sore have no statistically significant(P>0.05). Cistanche can improve constipation symptoms, the efficacy is significantly better than western medicine group. Cistanche can improve the quality of life of patients with constipation and patients with Parkinson’s disease, but the efficacy had no significant advantage compared to the control group.
