Obstrustive: To investigate the expression profiles and clinical values of interleukin-32(IL-32) in liver tissues of biliary atresia(BA) group and choledochal cyst(CC), respectively.Methords: 35 cases of BA(observation group) and 14 cases of CC without cholangitis(control group) admitted to and surgically treated at Shenzhen Children’s Hospital from February 2011 to October 2015, were enrolled in the study. The expression level of IL-32 in liver tissues was determined and analyzed between these two group by using real-time quantitative PCR(q PCR) and western blot(WB), followed by analyzing the correlation between IL-32 and liver function index in observation group. Results: The expression level of IL-32 m RNA was significantly higher in the observation group compared with the control group(P<0.05). In the observation group, the correlation between the expression level of IL-32 and liver function index(alanine aminotransferase, i.e. ALT, aspartate transaminase, i.e. AST, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase, i.e. γ-GT), respectively, was shown to be positive(r=0.557, P =0.001, r=0.400, P =0.017, r=0.835, P =0.000, respectively). Conclusion: The liver function index, like γ-GT, ALT and AST were increased with the expression level of IL-32, indicating the positive correlation between IL-32 and liver function, which is clinical significant in predicting the infants’ liver function.
