Association Of The SLC1A1 Glutamate Transporter Gene And Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder In The Chinese Han Population

Objective: To explore the association between the SLC1A1 glutamate transporter gene and Obsessive-compulsive disorder in the Chinese Han population.Methods: In this study, the SLC1A1 gene which included rs10491734 and rs3087879 of 438 patients and 467 controls was detected by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) technique.Then we analyzed the correlation between the genotype and allele frequency distribution and the obsessive compulsive disorder. Further analysis according different genders and onset ages explored the correlation between the genotype and allele frequency distribution and the obsessive compulsive disorder at the two SNP.Results:Three genotypes(AA,AG,GG) of SLC1A1 gene rs10491734 were detected.There was no significant difference between the total patients with OCD and health controls by analyzing the frequency distribution of genotype and allele at rs10491734(P>0.05). There was also no significant difference in the allele frequency and genotype frequency between every two groups of different genders/onset ages OCD at rs10491734( P>0.05).Three genotypes(CC,CG,GG) of SLC1A1 gene rs3087879 were detected.There was no significant difference between the total patients with OCD and health controls by analyzing the frequency distribution of genotype and allele at rs3087879(P>0.05). There was also no significant difference in the allele frequency and genotype frequency between every two groups of different genders/onset ages OCD at rs3087879(P>0.05).Conclusion:The result revealed that the SNP rs10491734 and rs3087879 in SLC1A1 gene had no significant association with OCD in Chinese Han population.
