Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between MTHFR C677 T polymorphisms and NSCL/P(Non syndrome cleft lip with or without palate) in Chinese Han population. Methods: Relevant literatures that had investigated MTHFR C677 T polymorphism and NSCL/P susceptibility were identified through a comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, VIP, CNKI and Wan Fang until March 2016. Selection of literatures was done according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were extracted from the eligible studies and were processed using Stata 12.0 software. Results: 8 studies(957 cases and 891 controls) indicated that the C677 T polymorphism was significantly associated with increased NSCL/P risk in Chinese Han population(CT Vs. CC, OR=2.021,95%CI. 1.058~3.861; TT Vs. CC, OR=1.997,95%CI. 1.428~2.793;CT+TT Vs. CC, OR=2.242,95%CI. 1.204~4.173;TT Vs. CC+CT, OR=1.363,95%CI. 1.032~1.801;T Vs. C, OR=1.293,95%CI. 0.983~1.702).Conclusion: The MTHFR C677 T polymorphisms are associated with NSCL/P susceptibility in Chinese Han population, and the genotype with T gene is a high risk factor.
