On Prose Translation From The Perspective Of Translation Aesthetic Subject And Object

Prose translation study is far behind prose creation until now and lacks a kind ofsystematic and scientific theory. Prose has diverse structure and rhyming language, performsboth value of content and aesthetics. Therefore, prose translation needs to convey the formalmeaning, as well as the beauty of artistic conception of the original text. Among the existingprose translation theories which are not quite methodical, aesthetic ideology is reflectedalmost everywhere.Translation aesthetic subject and object are two significant contents of translationaesthetics. The study contents include characteristics, capacities, structures and so on fromaesthetic perspective. Translation aesthetics is using aesthetic view points to recognizetranslation, analyzing and handling aesthetic problems in translation on the basis ofrecognizing translation aesthetic subject and object to the full extent. In prose translation,fully recognizing translation aesthetic subject and object is good to unify the original text andtarget text in beauty of emotion, form and artistic conception.This paper aims to analyze prose translation from the perspective of aesthetics, to findsome principles for prose translation with the help of recognizing translation aesthetic subjectand object. From the perspective of translation aesthetic subject, writers and translators bothhave strong emotions and aesthetic experiences. Translators turn their aesthetic experiences totranslation impulse and then turn it into beautiful words. From the perspective of translationaesthetic object, prose has natural and exquisite language, and has beauty in form as well asartistic conception. During the process of prose translation, one can analyze each level oftranslation aesthetic object under the instruction of translation aesthetics to convey theaesthetic information of the original. The principles can mainly be divided into three aspects:the beauty of emotion, formal and artistic conception.He Tang Yue Se is an excellent prose with exquisite language which is a good examplefor the study of translation aesthetics. This paper proves how the English versions reproducethe aesthetic value of the original text. Meanwhile, it aims to prove the operability to apply translation aesthetics to prose translation, and the significance to the study of modern prosetranslation.Through the above discussion, the conclusion of this paper has been obtained: in prosetranslation practice, it is good to achieve better effect in translated texts when recognizingtranslation aesthetic subject and object well and adopting translation aesthetics. It can betterconvey the aesthetic information of the original text only when the translation achieves beautyin emotion, form and artistic conception. It is hoped that the present paper will be of somehelp to the theoretical study and practical work of prose translation.
