The Comparison Of The Number Of Characters And Interpretation For Xinhua Dictionary And Modern Chinese Dictionary

This article has compared the difference between Xinhua Dictionary and the Modern Chinese Dictionary in the number of characters and the explanation.First, we introduce the reason of drafting, the codification process, Contributors and so on. we contrast the number of characters which is the important part . Xinhua Dictionary collects 78 characters which Modern Chinese Dictionary has not collected , Modern Chinese Dictionary collects 938 characters which Xinhua Dictionary has not collected . As for the reason why those characters hasn't been collected we have given the explanation from the nature and use of the two dictionaries,and also have analysised the characters' using range and the characteristic of wordbuilding. Regarding to the two dictionaries' explanations we compared in POS ,the number of senses, examples and words' senses and the sequence of senses .Because the time is limited, we has only made the sampling comparison, obtaining the explanation difference between Xinhua Dictionary and Modern Chinese Dictionary.
